  • Standings with Performance and Projected rating columns
  • Byes tab showing every requested bye for the event
  • Per-player view: rank, score, current pairing, history

Common questions

Before you sign up.

What pairing formats do you support?

Swiss, Double Swiss, Round Robin, Double Round Robin, Match (two players, multi-game series), and Knockout. Each section in a multi-section tournament can run a different format. FIDE-rated and accelerated Swiss events, for any federation, are paired by bbpPairings, the FIDE-endorsed Dutch-system engine that FIDE arbiters use, so the pairings match FIDE standard. Other Swiss events use ChessMarshal's own pairing engine.

Can players register and pay online?

Yes. Connect Stripe or PayPal and the money lands directly in your account. ChessMarshal takes a small platform fee per paid registration. Standard card processing fees apply on top. Free tournaments have no platform fee.

Does it look up US Chess ratings?

Yes. When a player enters their national id, such as a US Chess ID, ChessMarshal pulls their current rating, FIDE id, title, and membership expiration directly from the federation. Expired memberships are flagged before the player can register for a rated event.

What hardware does the venue need?

Any device with a browser. The TV display, check-in kiosk, shared-screen result entry, and TD console all run in the browser. No special hardware, no installations.

What federations are supported?

US Chess (USCF) today, end to end including ID lookup and rated-event eligibility checks. FIDE and other national federations are on the roadmap. The system is federation-agnostic by design, so adding a federation is a configuration step, not a rewrite.

Wherever you direct

From your club room to anywhere on the map.

ChessMarshal runs the same whether your players gather in Bozeman, London, or Maputo. When the last round ends, it hands you the rating file your federation expects, ready to upload. There is no separate tool to learn for an international event.
