Run your next tournament the way it should run.
Pair the rounds, take registrations, post the standings. ChessMarshal puts every part of the tournament on one screen, so you can spend the day watching chess instead of fighting spreadsheets.
Built for chess clubs everywhere. From a weekly Swiss in one room to a national federation championship across many sections, every event uses the same tools.
Built for
Everything you need for a smooth event.
From the moment you announce the tournament to the moment you post the final crosstable, every step lives in one place. No more spreadsheets, no more pairing software running in a separate window, no more cash on the registration table.
Pairings
Swiss, Round Robin, Double Swiss, Match, Knockout. Auto-pair the round, edit by hand, save when you're ready.
Public scoreboard
Players, parents, and spectators follow along on any device. Live pairings, standings, byes, results as they post.
Online registration
Stripe takes the payment, money lands in your account. Tiered pricing, waivers, half-point bye requests, scholastic fields.
Player roster
US Chess lookup built in. Drop in an ID and the rating, FIDE id, title, and membership expiration auto-fill.
Multi-section + Grand Prix
Each section has its own rating range, prize fund, format, and starting board. Stack tournaments into Grand Prix series.
Notifications
Players and parents subscribe by email or SMS. Round pairings and results go out the second you post them.
Spectators stay in the loop.
The scoreboard is a public page anyone can open on any device. Pairings, standings, byes, individual player views, and a section selector for multi-section events. Refresh and the page is current.
- Live pairings with rating, prior score, and result side by side
- Standings with Performance and Projected rating columns
- Byes tab showing every requested bye for the event
- Per-player view: rank, score, current pairing, history
The rating report, already done.
No more rebuilding the crosstable by hand at midnight. Click Download and you have the file your federation wants, ready to upload. National and FIDE reports come out together, byte-verified so they upload clean the first time.
- One click gives you the national and FIDE files together
- Byte-verified against the official federation software
- Individual and team events, the split sorted for you
- The crosstable stays live as your club record
From announcement to crosstable.
Four steps. The same four steps every tournament has always had. ChessMarshal just makes each one less painful.
Create the event
Pick a format, set the rounds and time control, define your sections, fill in the venue. Five minutes.
Open registration
Share the public link. Players sign up, pay, and slot themselves into the right section automatically.
Run the rounds
Auto-pair, post, enter results from any device. The scoreboard updates the moment a result lands.
Publish and archive
Final standings stay live on the public scoreboard. The event becomes part of your club's record forever.
From your club room to anywhere on the map.
ChessMarshal runs the same whether your players gather in Bozeman, London, or Maputo. When the last round ends, it hands you the rating file your federation expects, ready to upload. There is no separate tool to learn for an international event.
Free to set up. Pay as you grow.
Listing a club and running free events costs nothing. ChessMarshal takes a small platform fee on paid registrations (2.9% plus $0.30, capped at $3 per registration). Stripe's standard processing fees apply on top. Free tournaments have no platform fee.

What pairing formats do you support?
Swiss, Double Swiss, Round Robin, Double Round Robin, Match (two players, multi-game series), and Knockout. Each section in a multi-section tournament can run a different format.
Can players register and pay online?
Yes. Connect your Stripe account and money lands directly in your balance. ChessMarshal takes a small platform fee per paid registration. Stripe's standard processing fees apply on top. Free tournaments have no platform fee.
Does it look up US Chess ratings?
Yes. When a player enters their US Chess ID, ChessMarshal pulls their current rating, FIDE id, title, and membership expiration directly from US Chess. Expired memberships are flagged before the player can register for a rated event.
What hardware does the venue need?
Any device with a browser. The TV display, check-in kiosk, shared-screen result entry, and TD console all run in the browser. No special hardware, no installations.
What federations are supported?
US Chess (USCF) today, end to end including ID lookup and rated-event eligibility checks. FIDE and other national federations are on the roadmap. The system is federation-agnostic by design, so adding a federation is a configuration step, not a rewrite.
